Hot Tip - Your Backup Is Only As Good As The Information Put Into It!
I wanted to provide you with a Hot Tip this week because a) it’s positively steamy in Toronto, and b) this tip is so important it’s “Red Hot” for: Absolutely Critical, Do Not Ignore, Think About It Right This Instant!
But first, let me ask you a question: Since your backup was first set up (either by us or—ho hum—someone else), have you added any new applications or created any important new folders on your computers?
Because, if so, this Hot Tip is especially for you, so be sure to read on!
Blue’s Hot Tip: Your backup is only as good as the information put into it.
As you install new programs on your computer and start filing documents in new folders, it’s vital that your backup keep pace with these changes. Not all programs store information in the standard “My Documents” folders. Accordingly, new applications don’t necessarily get automatically added to your backup set.
The QuickBooks accounting software is one example of an application that stores information in unusual locations on your computer. The purchase and installation of a new program such as this would require that new files be added to your backup set in order for this new information to actually be backed up!
Remember, the information stored on your computer is your company’s most valuable asset, because without it, you don’t have a business. Period. Give me a call anytime for a free assessment of your current backup procedures. And please feel free to pass along this Hot Tip to your trusted backup support person.
Until next time, stay COOL!
